Seneca Area Agency on Aging provides a variety of
community services such as volunteer opportunities, educational
opportunities as well as legal assistance.
- Resident Advocate Committees are
individual volunteers who advocate on a formal basis for the
residents of our area’s long term care facilities.
- Iowa SMP is a
Program to educate the public on Medicare/Medicaid fraud, waste and
abuse. Community Educators and Fraud Specialists volunteers receive
training which enables them to inform the public of what to
"look for" to recognize Medicare/Medicaid fraud, waste and
abuse on medical bills.
- Senior Health Insurance
Information Program is a cooperative Program with the Iowa
Department of Insurance to train volunteers who will do peer
counseling on the insurance needs of the mature adult population.
- Older Iowans Legislature is a
mock legislature designed to allow the mature adult to actively take
part in the legislative process and bring issues of importance to
the Iowa General Assembly which concern Iowa’s elder population
and
the population at large.
- The Silver Grapevine,
is a bi-monthly publication of Seneca Area Agency on Aging. This
publication is geared to the mature adult of Southeast Iowa and is
available at all Seneca AAA senior meal sites.
- Senior Center Recreation is available
at the county Senior Centers which allows the mature adult to
participate in leisure activities which are coordinated/facilitated
by the County Site Manger.
- Legal Assistance is provided by the
Iowa Legal Aid through their area office located
in Ottumwa. The attorney’s will also do home visits when
necessary.
